So, I created these wings (with my friend Jana) specifically for dogs, right? But I’m finding a lot of women respond to them and want to be shot with them. I’ve never been into the whole “goddess” thing, I mean really, I’m just not that kind of person. But every time I sit a woman down in front of these wings, I witness her…transformation. I boss them a bit; sit up straight, lift your chin, take a deep breath, etc., etc., and they all listen so intently, and they do what I ask. And when I see their image through the viewfinder, I am floored. They are stunning, just unimaginably beautiful.
I suppose you could call them Goddesses; a few people have said that to me. I would probably hesitate to name them that, but I can tell you this, these women belong on a coin, or the bow of a ship. They are so beautiful, graceful, and so iconic in their own selves.
I’m going to be doing a lot more of these, and I’ve been remiss in sharing the ones I have done, so here’s a recent quickie from Becky’s shoot. Her husband suggested it after seeing my wings self portrait on Instagram, and although she resisted the idea at first, I was able to get her in and she just slid into this like a glove.
Women with wings. Perfect Just. Perfect.
The wings have become a favorite current project of mine, and there’s a gallery link above for you to see others in front of them (including myself, and, of course, a dog or two).
