regarding things that are no longer all about me

So. The last post was sort of a pop quiz, wasn’t it? You weren’t ready for that, were you? You think you know what I did, don’t you? Ha! It wasn’t, you weren’t, and you don’t.

Since most of Anastassia’s (the bride in the wedding I just posted about) family is from Russian and do not speak (or read) English, and since they live there and are so far away from their daughter, I wanted to do something really special for them.

I wrote 2 parts to that post. The first part, in English, you saw. It was sweet, wasn’t it? (I used to be a writer.) The second part was a completely different text, written to both the bride’s and groom’s parents (a different note to each family). I then hired a business translating service to make sure that the translation was proper and correct and that I wasn’t offering to do something untoward or buy any sheep…things like that.

So. You want to know what the Russian text says, don’t you? Yeahhhh….I knew you would. If you really, really really want to know what it says, you can try that free service (oh that actually sounds kind of fun…yep! Just did it here! Give it a try, it’s kind of fun and actually not that far off the mark.

One principle I have always held dear is that all clients are different and should be treated as such. That’s why I like to do something a little extra special for everyone I shoot–whether a little album they were not expecting, or a (very well) translated secret message to their parents.

I’ve had brides ask what their surprise will be, LOL, which is so funny to me, because, der…it’s a surprise! And I never know going into it anyway; I know only after spending time with each couple and learning what I learn from them. That’s what makes each little “gift” very, very personal.
